Do you like bird watching? How about mucking around outdoors? Do you have a pair of boots, a set of optics, and a desire to help avian conservation?
Well, we have an opportunity for you!
We are looking for volunteer citizen scientists to assist with breeding bird surveys at Leque Island this spring.
Ecostudies Institute has begun a study to assess the response of birds to estuary restoration projects on lands owned by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. As part of this project, we are gathering information investigating how birds currently use Leque Island, located between Camano Island and Stanwood, WA.
Volunteers will perform short area searches at specific locations at Leque Island. This is a perfect opportunity for some amazing birdwatching, and to contribute to our understanding of avian responses to restoration efforts!
A training seminar will be held on 1:00 p.m. on April 10, at the Stanwood Library. To sign up or ask questions about the project, please email Leah Rensel.
