There are many items that are difficult to request in specific project proposals, but would be of great value to all of our projects, helping us to be more effective and efficient in our work. If you see something on this list that you would like to contribute, please contact us.
Ideally a small-sized pickup truck or sport utility vehicle. Automobile expenses are one of our biggest costs and not easily procured in grant proposals.
We are in need of laptops for our technicians in the field. We also have use for computer tablets, which we can use directly in the field making data collection more efficient.
More and more we use video as a way to convey messages about the context and importance of our work to the public. Currently, we capture video on cameras and phones, but the result tends to be low quality. Our ability to use this medium would be greatly enhanced with a real video camera.
We use mist-nets in almost every one of our project to capture study birds. Over time these fine-weaved nets begin to break down, particularly in sunny climates.
We can use gift cards for gas and hardware stores. It seems like we are always going to Home Depot or Lowes to purchase hardware for aviaries or capture equipment, lumber or tools for building and checking nestboxes.
