To date, there has been no clear discussion on either how to monitor birds or which birds should be monitored at tidal restoration sites in the Pacific Northwest. The lack of consensus has resulted in bird monitoring often being overlooked as a component of restoration monitoring. The collaboration between Ecostudies Institute and Pilchuck Audubon Society aims to address this problem by developing a comprehensive document that provides a template and recommendations for bird monitoring at tidal restoration sites in the Pacific Northwest. Such a document, if implemented, would provide a powerful means to evaluate the effect of tidal restoration on birds. This project will also develop a scope of work and proposal for bird monitoring at the Leque Island restoration site in Snohomish County
