Ecostudies Institute is dedicated to understanding and conserving native populations of birds
and other wildlife and their habitats.
We accomplish this mission by conducting sound science and
on-the-ground restoration that yields practical solutions to pressing problems in the management and
protection of wildlife. We then use a variety of education and outreach activities, including peer-reviewed
publications, technical reports, presentations, and educational materials, to ensure our results are
communicated to land managers, policy-makers, and the general public. Although our expertise is
broad, we tend to focus on birds because they are exceptional indicators of overall environmental health
and integrity.  Furthermore, the general public connects with birds because they are conspicuous,
iconic, and often inspirational.

Our core beliefs
  • Biodiversity and intact habitats and ecosystems are important to the well-being of humans.
  • Sound science should guide the conservation, management, and restoration of birds and wildlife.
  • Disseminating results of scientific research promotes informed decision making and public
    involvement in conservation.
